A Word I Love

For the past few years, I have chosen a WORD FOR THE YEAR. Although, this isn't necessarily my "official word" for the year, it somehow still feels very significant for 2018.

FAITH.

For quite a while now, I have been struggling with anxiety when I go to bed, and when I wake up. Without any effort at all, my mind gets bombarded with every negative possibility of my future, and every regret, betrayal, and resentment from my past. It's like I go through a whole grieving process every time I'M TRYING TO REST! I've had enough. It needs to stop. Now.

As I've studied, prayed, and gathered information on all sorts of inspirational topics. In conclusion, I have a real issue with BELIEVING THAT ALL I'VE WORKED TOWARDS WILL PAY OFF. God has made so many promises to me. He's promised to never leave or forsake me. He's promised that I will reap if I don't faint. He's promised that I will receive if I just ask. He's promised that I will be filled if I hunger and thirst after righteousness. I could go on.

The simple question lies here...Do I believe it? That's faith.

Fear tells me that I've worked and slaved for nothing. Fear tells me there's no pay off for anything I've strived for. Fear tells me that no one truly loves me and will ultimately betray me. Fear tells me that when I give it my best, I'm going to fail. Fear tells me that no matter what I sow, I will reap sorrow and ruin.

Faith tells me that I've worked and slaved for the glory of God, and that there is a reward in EVERYTHING I've done for Him. Faith tells me that there are people out there living on my same frequency, and that they too strive for love, light, and integrity. Faith tells me that when I give it my best, I'm going to succeed. Faith redefines success for me. Faith tells me that no matter what, my honest, loving actions will be met with fulfillment, purpose, hope, and loving relationships.

FEAR MAKES ME WANT TO GIVE UP.

FAITH MAKES ME WANT TO PRESS ON.

This short video from Joyce Meyer hits the nail on the head...

"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and a sound mind."
"Be not weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not."
"There is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out all fear."
"And hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is spread abroad in our hearts."
"And always be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within you."

Down to Earth

The old saying “keep your feet on the ground” held new meaning for me today. I happened upon a video that explained the basic science behind grounding. Scientists explain how our bare feet on the earth sends an electrical charge through our bodies, which decreases inflammation, and ultimately has the potential to heal our physical bodies. The problem is, we insulate ourselves with our shoes and other protective gear, that keep us completely separated from the vibrational frequencies of the earth, almost 100% of the time.

We were created, designed to operate in conjunction with the earth’s electrical vibrations. It is no coincidence that there are so many pressure points on the bottoms of our feet…leading to every major part of the body. And it makes a lot of sense why God would tell Moses…”Take off your shoes from off your feet, for the place you are standing is Holy ground.” God wanted him to respect his true connection to all God had created and intended for him to absorb, feel, and understand.

I always thought of grounding as a spiritualistic concept only. Humans have a way of separating the idea of the spiritual and the physical, as if one is real and one is not. One is concrete, one is abstract. One is for sure, the other uncertain. We swing back and forth between prayer and worry, between fear and trust in God. But “a double minded-man is unstable in all his ways.”

GROUNDING brings it all together. It’s the binding tie between the spiritual and the physical. There is no in between. All of life and energy is one. God is one. We are one. God’s Spirit dwells in us, and He tells us to “quench not the Spirit” in His Word. It is written, “It is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Either we walk in awareness of the spiritual nature of our bodies, or we do not. “For if we live in the Spirit, let us walk in the Spirit.”

In order to be truly “down-to-earth,” one must become truly Spirit-filled, Sprit-led. What this looks like on the outside can vary from person to person. When we simply admit to ourselves that the world around us is united energetically with the unseen, we become “grounded.” The truth sets us free. We come to understand that all matter is in the state of vibration, and that God simply says, “Let there be light”….and there is light. God’s voice IS THE VIBRATION. He sets all things in motion.

Being truly down-to-earth means recognizing and accepting the reality of spiritual, unseen things as a scientific reality. It means I live acknowledging that God dwells in me and that I am not separate from Him because I reside in the physical realm. It means I seek true healing and understanding through the marriage of the seen and the unseen. I exist in both dimensions. I am alive. I am a child of God.
